ACQUISITION, DISPOSAL, OR REASSIGNMENT
Vehicles can be reassigned to another budget unit or disposed
of completely. (For a list of vehicles available for
transfer, please click here.)
To reassign a vehicle, the Vehicle
Reassignment Form (pdf) should be completed and sent to
Transportation & Parking within one week of transfer so
that records can be updated. (Records will be updated
on the first of each month, but the physical exchange of the
vehicle may occur as long as we are notified within one week.)
If record changes occur mid month, the repair and fuel charges
for the vehicle will go to either the new account or the old
account. They won't split between the departments.
To dispose of a state vehicle, a department should complete
the State
Vehicle Disposal form and bring it to Transportation &
Parking Services when the vehicle is dropped off. On
the second Wednesday of each month, Transportation & Parking
Services will display vehicles that are being disposed of
by one department and are eligible for intra-departmental
transfer.
If there is no interest from another OSU entity, the vehicle
will be auctioned off and the proceeds returned to the department.
(Please note that there is a $50.00 charge from T&P for
titling work and a commission that goes to the auction house
for their services.)
ALTERNATIVE FUEL VEHICLE OPTIONS
Recent legislation in the State of Ohio requires
State Agencies to procure Flex Fuel Vehicles and B20 powered
diesel vehicles as well as set requirements on using the fuels.
While the university is exempt from the legislation, we have
made a commitment to purchase more alternative fuel vehicles
as well as increase our use of alternative fuels. Many of
the University’s vehicles are capable of running on
E85 (85% Ethanol and 15% Gasoline) and all of the University’s
diesel vehicles are capable of running on B20 bio diesel.
Transportation & Parking Services is currently exploring
the possibility of offering E85 at our Columbus Campus fueling
facility to the university as the procurement of Flex Fuel
Vehicles increase. In the mean time, we encourage the use
of alternative fuels whenever possible. To determine if your
vehicle is capable of running on E85, consult your owner’s
manual or contact Transportation & Parking Services at
614-247-7808 for more information.
